Three Graces

WORK PRESENTED AT FLORENCE BIENNALE 2021, WINNER OF LORENZO IL MAGNIFICO AWARD - 4TH PLACE TEXTILE ART, SIZE: 175 X 140 CM, TECHNIQUE: HANDTUFTED AND EMBROIDERED TAPESTRY, NUMBERED ARTWORK 37-2021. The immutable essence of femininity, present in the three dancing women-goddesses of Botticelli, is an inspiration for this tapestry, but it is elaborated to a present-day feeling. In contrast with the classical depiction of the female responding to a uniform ideal, physically and emotionally, the feminine figures show varying attitudes and physical shapes. There is no sign of cultivated modesty but a search for a shared, uplifting power.
